Almost $18M in cocaine seized in donated packing containers of bananas


The Texas Division of Legal Justice (TDCJ) discovered one thing surprising in two pallets comprised of 45 packing containers of bananas that had been donated on the Ports of America in Freeport: Almost $18 million price of cocaine.

The bananas had been donated to the TDCJ as a result of they had been too ripe, the TDCJ mentioned in a Fb publish. Two sergeants from the Scott Unit had been loading up the bananas after they observed one of many packing containers felt totally different.

Underneath the bananas, they discovered a bundle of a white powdery substance, which U.S. Customs brokers confirmed was cocaine.

They searched all 45 packing containers and located 540 packages of cocaine with an estimated road worth of $17,820,000.

U.S. Customs and Drug Enforcement are investigating.
