'Congratulations India': UNESCO Accords Durga Puja Heritage Status

UNESCO has accorded heritage standing to West Bengal’s Durga puja pageant.


The UNESCO on Wednesday accorded heritage standing to West Bengal’s Durga puja pageant, a transfer that has been hailed by the folks of the state.

“Durga puja in Kolkata has simply been inscribed on the intangible heritage record. Congratulations India,” the UN company posted on Twitter with an image of an idol of the goddess hooked up to it.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi additional shared UNESCO’s tweet, lauding the achievement as “A matter of nice pleasure and pleasure for each Indian”. 

Suvaprasanna, the chairman of State Heritage Fee, mentioned the Crimson Highway carnival, which shows the craftsmanship that goes into the making of Durga puja pandals, has made extra folks the world over conscious of the grandeur that’s synonymous with the pageant.
