What the native sheriff referred to as a “main industrial accident” led to an enormous fireplace early Thursday at an ExxonMobil refinery in Baytown, Texas, close to Houston.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted that “preliminary studies indicated some kind of explosion occurred contained in the plant.”
He stated there have been apparently 4 folks injured. Three have been airlifted out and one was eliminated by ambulance.

Gonzalez stated there was no want for anybody to evacuate or shelter-in-place.
ExxonMobil stated in an announcement that its “fireplace groups are working to extinguish the hearth” and it was attempting to account for everybody who may need been on-scene on the time.

“Our first precedence stays the security of individuals, together with our staff, contractors and the encompassing neighborhood,” the assertion stated, including that, “As a precaution, we’re starting to conduct air high quality monitoring on the website and fence line” and it was “cooperating with regulatory businesses.”
