A new child lady, who was allegedly offered by her mother and father resulting from poverty, in Odisha’s Jajpur district, has been rescued, police stated.

The incident got here to the fore after a baby improvement venture officer of Dasarathpur block filed a latest police grievance that Suresh Das and his spouse offered the toddler to a childless couple for Rs 7,000, they stated.

The infant lady was rescued from Champeipal village on Friday night and handed over to the kid welfare committee, a senior police officer stated.

Nobody has been arrested but, he stated.

The mother and father, nevertheless, denied promoting their daughter.

“We’re very poor and have already got two daughters… So, we determined to present the new child to one in every of our family members,” Mr Das claimed.
